working beneath the radar

Sitting on a picnic rug in my back garden today, the late afternoon sunlight falling over the lawn in golden slants, I glimpsed a spider's web through the gaps in the wooden fence separating our outdoor space from our neighbour's. It was intricate, beautiful and slender as gossamer. It reflected the light shining upon it and sparkled, glowing like silver. It caught my attention only because of the time of day and the presence of the sunshine, and wouldn't have done so otherwise. It made me wonder how much time the spider had invested in it, quietly working away without anyone noticing.

Do you know someone who works away quietly to create something beautiful without being noticed? If you do, why not tell them that you've noticed the loveliness of whatever they have made? It might just make their day.
